In recognition of the one-year anniversary of the March 11, 2011 Great Tohoku earthquake, tsunami, and resulting nuclear disaster, Oberlin Shansi and Oberlin College will present a multi-disciplinary symposium, art exhibition, and mini course focusing on the global impact of the ongoing nuclear crisis in Japan. More than one generation of Oberlin students and faculty and of Shansi fellows, grantees, and trustees have “grown up” with Carl Jacobson and Deb Cocco as the face and the heart of Shansi.. Read more.

In honor of Carl and Deb's long and able service to and leadership of Shansi, the Board of Trustees has established the Carl Jacobson and Deborah Cocco Fund to support the many Shansi programs that promote mutual respect and understanding between Oberlin and Asia. You may contribute to the fund by sending a check to Shansi with a memo note "for the Carl Jacobson and Deborah Cocco Fund" or by making an online contribution and sending a note of your designation to ewilkins@oberlin.edu.

Oberlin Shansi invites applications for the position of Campus Coordinator. This is a full-time 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff entry-level position reporting to the Associate Director of Oberlin Shansi. The appointment is for two years beginning on August 1, 2012.
